Why is giving important?

The Bible has much to say about wisdom and finances, with 2,300 verses that tell us to be generous and good stewards of our resources. Jesus taught generosity and sacrifice. He demanded that his followers serve not wealth but God, and in the parable of the talents he taught that God will hold us each accountable for what we do with all our earthly possessions.
Generosity is a matter of action, intentions, and heart. One way to describe it is the grateful outpouring of gifts to others, out of our love for God.
Outpouring is a terrific description, since the priceless treasure of the gospel (and all the gifts of covenant, relationship, and life that go with it) comes from God and is meant to be poured out, through our living, upon others. Paul states this directly in 2 Corinthians 4:5-7, when he says,

“We have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us.”

Your contribution to Waldheim United Methodist Church provides for general church operations, and helps fund our other ministries. Every gift will further the Kingdom and equip us to celebrate life change. We thank you for partnering with us in trying to grow!

Waldheim is now providing another way for you to give while keeping the traditional way using the offering plate each Sunday.
